Amazing Kit

So I purchased this kit 2 months ago from Sweetwater and it's so awesome. I do recommend changing the stock heads, however, if you gig on the regular and want to unlock this kit's full potential. These are my recommendations for heads - For toms, I recommend the Remo Emperor Vintage Coated, as these are two play heads and will give you a real nice, full bodied sound with plenty of attack and presence that make the Toms sound balanced and professional. For the snare, I recommend the Remo Controlled Sound. It has a built in center mute and really tackles all the unwanted overtones. The end result is a snare with plenty of body and attack, which holds its weight against snares that cost hundreds of dollars more. For the kick, this is what I recommend - For the Batter head, Use the Evans Emad with the thicker ring mute. For the Reso head, I used the Evans EQ3. I also installed the Evans EQ Pad inside the Kick for additional muffling. The end result is a really balanced kick with plenty of punch and low end. It literally sounds like the perfect kick to me. I highly recommend this kit. It's beautiful and sounds amazing. Plus being a 7 piece, it unlocks so many creative opportunities.

In Love With This Kit !

I purchased the7 PCs Catalina silver sparkle about 6 months ago. Has the sound I was looking for. Pair with A custom Zildjian makes it one sweet kit and my sales rep Brian L. Was helpful threw the whole process and touched base months afterwards.

Fragile

Beautiful finish great sounding drums. However I received it with two drums damaged. My sales engineer Phil Nass got me help right away and am currently waiting on delivery of the replacement drums. Customer service has always been excellent with Sweetwater. Despite this little hiccup I'm still a loyal customer.

GRETSCH 7 Piece Catalina Maple Kit

This kit is awesome, my first Gretsch kit and it's so easy to tune and play, the power and projection is outstanding, I love everything about this kit. I am Extremely satisfied with the product the silver sparkle finish is flawless and has outstanding visual appeal. I have the kit miked, but really no need to use them in our practice space, because I can be heard over the bass and guitar without amplification because of the Maple shells projection. Their perfect ,my opinion, and for me thats all that matters.
