Epiphone’s Version of Slash’s Touring Axe

Slash’s Les Paul collection is arguably as celebrated as the Guns N' Roses axeman himself. The Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard is Epi’s version of one of the legendary guitarist’s favorite touring instruments. This solidbody electric guitar is a Les Paul afficionado’s dream, with enough Gibson-inspired features to fill a snakepit and a real-world price tag that's guaranteed to put a dog-eat-dog sly smile on your face. The Slash Les Paul Standard boasts classic maple-on-mahogany construction, which includes a figured maple veneer top that’s guaranteed to turn heads. This exquisite rock machine features a comfortable Slash-custom C-shaped neck and an easy-playing Indian Laurel fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets, along with a set of vintage-voiced Custom ProBucker pickups, high-quality wiring, and Epiphone strap locks. The Epi Slash Les Paul Standard also includes color-coordinated hardware, Slash’s “Scully” signature drawing on the back of the headstock, and a truss rod cover with a facsimile of Slash’s signature, and a custom hardshell case.

Classic construction with Slash’s personal touches

The Epi Slash Les Paul Standard conjures the vibe of the influential Gibson guitars Slash has used during his career. It includes a mahogany body, a AAA flame maple veneer top, and a super-comfortable Slash Custom C-shaped neck. The electronics consist of Epiphone Custom ProBucker pickups along with CTS potentiometers with Orange Drop capacitors. You also get color-coordinated hardware components, Slash’s “Scully” signature drawing on the back of the headstock, and a truss rod cover with a facsimile of Slash’s signature. Guitarists here at Sweetwater are genuine Les Paul connoisseurs, and they love the sound, look, and feel of this guitar.

Epiphone’s acclaimed ProBucker pickups

The key ingredient to the Les Paul's early success was the PAF humbucking pickups. The first of its kind to hit the mainstream, the Patent Applied For humbuckers defined the sound of a generation with their fat tone and clear response. With the price of vintage PAFs skyrocketing, Epiphone set out to create their own PAF-style pickup. Thus, the ProBucker humbucking pickup was born. Inspired by the original PAF sound, these pickups feed your appetite with full overwound tones and incredible clarity. When you plug the Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard into your favorite British-style amplifier, you’ll instantly recognize the top-hatted one’s signature Les Paul punch.

Slash: hard rock royalty

Slash is renowned as one of the greatest guitarists in rock ’n’ roll history. In the waning years of the 1980s, Slash's bluesy, scorched-earth licks brought rock guitar to its knees, forewarning big changes on the horizon. While many of his peers dominated MTV with flamboyant super axes and hyper-processed guitar tones, Slash simply plugged a Les Paul into a cranked British stack, wailed away, and left an indelible mark in music history. The Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard culls many features from his high-end Gibson signature models, providing you with a Slash-inspired solidbody electric guitar that won't drain your wallet.

Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard Features:

  • Resonant mahogany body exhibits incredible warmth and sustain
  • AAA figured maple veneer top ensures a head-turning look
  • Laurel-capped Slash-custom C-shaped neck supplies unbelievable playability
  • Custom ProBucker humbucking pickups feed your appetite with old-school PAF tones
  • CTS potentiometers with Orange Drop capacitors ensure spot-on vintage tone
  • Epiphone strap locks safeguard against axe droppage
  • Boasts color-coordinated hardware, Slash’s “Scully” signature drawing on the back of the headstock, and a truss rod cover with a facsimile of Slash's signature
  • Includes a custom hardshell case

Too Nice To Play

The color is called November Burst, and since it's Slash's signature guitar, I have named her
"November Reign", appropriately. November is the finest instrument I have ever played. Being my first guitar of this type, I have never heard anything, or felt anything fretboard wise. I'm going to go the route of cheap guitars for awhile to build my collection, but I needed a "real deal" cornerstone & November will be reigning all over my other guitars. The pictures don't do her justice, the tones are ringing & are exceptionally unique compared to my other guitar which is an electric LTD MH-50. November's frets are smooth except one hiccup where my finger stopped, but I was not applying enough pressure to her get over the fretting, trying to not damage or scratch the wood out of over abundance of caution. Zero complaints, and I'm gobsmacked about how amazing she sounds. The case is fantastic!! Bending notes was like a dream, & I played Clapton's rendition of George's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", and the experience was astounding! Many guitars are a 10 out of 10, but November Reign goes to 11!
Music background: Trombone marching band & concert, self taught guitars & keyboard since 16 y.o. I learned panpipes & singing bowls. I play spoons & "bones", the wooden version.

This guitar is AWESOME !!!!!!

This guitar looks awesome and sounds awesome. I have to admit, this is my first Les Paul but this guitar beautiful. The neck is slightly narrow, which I really like (didn't know if I was going to like that or not). It plays really nice and the sound is awesome. This is now my favorite guitar. The burst paint job on the front is just gorgeous. I will say it collects finger prints. It was setup just about perfect - had to do a little intonation adjustment - no biggie. Tuned it up and everything worked out of the box. Very happy with this purchase. Would recommend the guitar and Sweetwater to anyone.

Shipping from Sweetwater was super fast. I love how the guitar box was packaged inside another box with lots of packing foam. It killed me to have to wait to open it......but I did.

The only issue I've seen is one of the screw holes for the utility back plates was drill in at an angle and came through the side wall within the compartment. You can't see it from the outside and the screw stays in nice so not really a big deal. I guess there is one other issue......it's with the case. It has these small area where it pushes up in spots. It's strange. Looks like staples didn't get hammer in all the way. Not really a big deal for me. I'm not playing the case. :-)

Spot on.

After 4 decades of playing the other BIG brand, we all now what I'm talking about, I will never go back. This guitar is affordable, spot on, beautiful and tuned/setup 100% at the factory. A great thanks to Slash.
10/10. The days of playing at home for 1 hour +- is now history. Do it 8 hours these days.
