Great Acoustic-electric for Singer/Songwriters

The Yamaha FGX800C acoustic-electric guitar stems from a long heritage of amazing FG "folk guitar" acoustic guitars and gives you incredible value at an entry-level price. The guitar's combination of premium tonewoods makes it a great value for seasoned players, but it's priced to be attainable for new players, as well. Its combination of a solid Sitka spruce top and nato back and sides is responsible for the FGX800C's beautiful voice. And Yamaha's System-66 electronics take that sound onto the stage. Let your guitar-playing journey start with an amazing instrument you'll love playing for years to come - the Yamaha FGX800C acoustic guitar.

Genuine Sitka spruce top for great tone

Yamaha chose a solid Sitka spruce top for their FGX800C for both its look and tone. Sitka spruce has a well-rounded, articulate sound with excellent projection. These qualities have made it the undisputed leader for acoustic guitar tops throughout the industry. And because it's a solid-wood top, the tone will age gracefully, with enhanced harmonics and greater tonal balance as the years go by. And Yamaha improved their scalloped bracing on the FGX800C to allow for more top movement, resulting in a larger low end and more projection.

Nato back and sides

The FGX800C sports a body made from nato. This wood's warm tone is reminiscent of mahogany, and it really impressed strummers at Sweetwater. Its rich sound enhances the midrange frequencies while maintaining top-end clarity, making it great for strumming. The sound is gentle and full, which is ideal for vocal accompaniment. Combined with the lively and defined sound of the spruce top, you'll love the rich tone you get from the Yamaha FGX800C.

Yamaha System-66 electronics

The Yamaha FGX800C acoustic-electric guitar also has you covered when it's time to take the stage. The System-66 pickup and preamp electronics deliver the true sound of your guitar's spruce and nato tonewoods. The onboard preamp features a 3-band EQ with sweepable mids to help notch out unwanted feedback. It also boasts a fast and reliable tuner to keep your performances sounding great. And the battery compartment is easily accessed on the upper bout of the guitar for quick changes.

Yamaha FGX800C Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Value-packed acoustic-electric
  • Solid Sitka spruce top ages gracefully
  • Nato back and sides offer warmth and balance
  • System-66 electronics deliver great plugged-in tone
  • Single cutaway offers access to the higher frets

A new guitar

Although I'm very new at playing the guitar before I made a purchase me being on Social Security and very poor I soaked up a lot of information talk to a bunch of luthier's checked and double things twice overall I came down to two guitars one was in pf15ECE Ibanez and Yamaha fgx800c the Ibanez is a nice guitar but for about 70 to $100 more including your luthier setup I felt it was just best that I go ahead and get the Yamaha and I'm so glad I did this is one kick *** guitar of course I might have a biased opinion but I hung out at the local guitar shop and played a lot of guitars they kept asking me when I was going to buy one I didn't have the heart to tell him I was going to buy Sweetwater it just came down to Dollars and cents I've got a knock around $100 guitar so and gave me and a luthier friend of mine 0 to 10 it's fun I did learn that each guitar is unique how it plays and how it sounds me as a player my invitation is poor I have muted strings can hardly play an A chord,, my follow-through is poor and my definition is something I just don't have basically overall I suck but I play Everyday and I get just a little tiny bit better everyday at least my cat doesn't run away anymore Yamaha leave it to the Japanese they have a great quality control I do suggest that when you dial it in you have a medium action if done at Sweetwater that way you always have a place to go as far as material and it goes through all sorts of contortions and shrinkage expansions etc etc the time you get your hands on it the sales staff was great and was always there if you needed a hand on something well I got to go time to practice take care and remember keep on strumin

Great Guitar!

I couldn't be happier with this guitar. The fit and finish, the action, the intonation, the tone, the sustain, and on and on. It plays like a dream, sounds great and stays in tune.

You can't go wrong with this guitar for the price. In all honesty, I'd be just as happy with it if I'd paid a couple hundred dollars more for it. And you can't go wrong buying from Sweetwater, they'll treat you right.
Music background: I've been playing guitar for forty years. Rock/Southern Rock and Blues.
