Original and Classic Yamaha FG Series Design

Just like all of the Yamaha FG series, the FG850 holds the quality craftsmanship and similar materials besides the difference between its back and sides. You have the solid spruce top, same size, and dreadnought body, as well as the carefully bound neck and body that makes it last for longer.

All of these features are what make it the original Yamaha guitar everyone knows and loves. Because of this unique design, you have the warm and woody design that matches the distinctive richness when played in the middle frequencies.

Furthermore, just like the newer additions to the FG series, expect a louder and stronger sound when played in the low to mid ranges. This is all thanks to the best bracing design that doesn’t need any guesswork. Everything is made and crafted with advanced technology and today’s needs in mind.

Strong and Durable Body to Last

The new scalloped bracing pattern doesn’t only improve the sounds of the FG850 but it also helps with the durability of the guitar’s top board, which makes the guitar stronger.

Guitar Junky
Hi there, I’m Charles, chief editor here at The Guitar Junky. I'm a professional guitarist, and have over 10 years experience in playing guitar, piano, and other music instruments. When not working, I love playing with my two lovely kids, Caryss and Philip.

  1. I played for a Martín D35 for years, I bought in 1976. I lost interest about 15 years ago as my career in IT really ramped. Five years ago I got Leukemia. As I recovered I couldn’t do much so I pulled out the Martin D35 from the closet. It needed some TLC. I took it to a pro to recondishin it. In the meantime I bought an Yamaha FG 850, for the price and the fact I never owned a all Mahagony guitar. Turned out to be a sweat guitar, great sound for the money and fun to play. Only issue, the action is a little high. Easy to fix if I decide to lower it. Anyway it I was home for two recovers recovery and played the heck out of it and luv it. I got my D35 back after 3 months and 1000 dollar refurbishment. The D35 is awesome like it always had been so the D35 gets most of my playing time but I still pick up and play the FG850 from time to time for a change of pace. I highly recommend the FG850, great for beginner, intermediate or like me as a back up guitar. Four for the FG850.
