Taylor's Distinctive Grand Auditorium

The Taylor 114e acoustic-electric guitar is a terrific choice for beginning or seasoned players. You'll find the 114e's maple neck extremely comfortable and playable, while its solid Sitka spruce and layered walnut tonewood combination provides you with the perfect balance of warmth and sparkle. On top of that, the onboard ES2 electronics translate your true acoustic tone when playing plugged in. Sweetwater has been selling Taylor guitars for quite some time, and we're sure you'll appreciate the warm, lively tone of the Taylor 114e acoustic-electric guitar.

Grand Auditorium body style

Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 114e, employs the width and depth of the dreadnought. But its narrower waist gives Grand Auditorium–bodied acoustic guitars a sleeker look with remarkable high-end response — helping to sharpen the definition of each note. And the comfort of this body style is a huge reason the 114e is such a popular instrument for live performance. From fingerpicking to strumming, the 114e Grand Auditorium is a great choice for nearly every playing style.

Unique tonewoods

The tonewoods chosen for the 114e offer detailed tone, strong projection, and durability. The layered walnut back and sides offer rigid construction that aids in the guitar's pronounced tone and helps the instrument remain stable under fluctuating climate changes and rough handling. The combination of maple and ebony on the neck ensures a ringing midrange with plenty of top-end detail. And the solid Sitka spruce top is one of the most popular wood choices for a powerful tone that is well balanced across the frequency range.

Taylor's Expression System 2

Taylor's Expression System 2 uses a proprietary pickup behind the saddle. The pickup's three individually calibrated, precisely positioned piezo-electric sensors respond organically to the instrument's acoustic energy as it's transferred through the saddle. In concert with Taylor's custom-designed preamp, the result is a natural acoustic sound with incredible dynamic range and responsiveness. Sweetwater's guitar gurus are mightily impressed with Taylor's Expression System 2.

Taylor 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Grand Auditorium body style delivers exceptional high-end response
  • Sitka spruce and layered walnut tonewoods provide balanced warmth and sparkle
  • TUSQ nut and Micarta saddle ensure a buzz-free, well-tuned performance
  • Die-cast chrome-plated tuners maintain intonation
  • Updated bracing allows the guitar's top to vibrate, providing enhanced tone
  • Maple neck delivers comfortable playability
  • ES2 electronics for outstanding amplified performance

Great Guitar!!!

Great guitar for the money! I also have a 114e, strung up differently, for recording.
Music background: Pro musician for over 50 years.

Fell in love when I least expected

I bought this guitar for myself to upgrade from my first acoustic (a $100 Fender I bought while in college) with the hope it would inspire me to practice and play more... This guitar has certainly done that for me; it is an absolute joy to play. Though it was excellent as setup by the great people at Sweetwater, I agree with some of the other reviewers who say it sounds and plays even better over time! This guitar is a real treat I look forward to playing for years to come. Thank you Nick Rice and everyone at Sweetwater.

Can't beat 'em

I also have a Martin D-35 ,Gibson acoustic, Yamaha acoustic, etc. this is my pick out of the herd! Nice bright tone with plenty of volume played acoustically. Set up right it almost plays itself!
Music background: Have played various types of music for 50 years local and regional bands.

Huge Bargain

This is honestly the BEST acoustic guitar I have ever played. I've been playing for nearly 50 years(mostly professionally) and I am primarily a blues guitarist. That being said I have owned several acoustics and have played many others including very expensive models. This guitar has surprised me with its unbelievable playability. I wasn't sure I would like the 15" radius considering I play mostly older Fender electrics with 7.25. Action was great right out of the box and sound/tone is exceptional. The newer electronics are great as well. Have used many times in a large church setting and it's great with just a DI to the board. All this for a ridiculously cheap price. Would and have recommended to anyone and any level of player.
Music background: Im 64 and have been playing since the age of 8. Off and on professionally
