Use Schaller S-Locks, and you’ll never have to worry about a guitar-dropping mishap again. S-Locks feature solid, 1-piece, hardened-steel strap buttons for maximum security against breakage, while self-tapping wood threads ensure easy installation. S-Locks accommodate super-thick straps, courtesy of extended thread lengths, and slanted, stainless-steel locking bolts give you permanent precision, reliable performance, and a wear-free finish. And thanks to S-Locks’ revamped pull-up balls, you’ll enjoy easy-grip lock and release. S-Locks are dead silent — no matter how you move, you’ll enjoy noiseless performance. You also get high-grade felt washers to safeguard your guitar’s finish. Schaller makes premium accessories to give you the best playing experience possible, and S-Locks are a stellar example.

Solid, 1-piece, hardened steel strap buttons offer incredible durability

S-Locks employ solid, 1-piece, hardened-steel strap buttons that are more than twice as thick as their predecessors. In short, these strap locks are tough! These buttons include 5/32-inch screws — they’re a direct replacement for most existing strap buttons. And thanks to their self-tapping wood threads, they’re a breeze to install. Guitarists here at Sweetwater appreciate that Schaller includes high-grade felt washers with S-Locks that offer maximum protection for our guitar finishes.

Locks and lock wheels supply maximum compatibility and reliability

S-Locks include extended thread lengths, allowing them to securely hold straps up to 0.24 inches thick. Benefit from steadfast reliability, thanks to slanted, stainless-steel locking bolts. You’ll appreciate S-Locks’ redesigned pull-up balls, which supply an easy-grip lock and release. S-Locks employ lock wheels with a unique 3-step security function — screw them on by hand, tighten them with a 5/64-inch Allen wrench, then use Schaller’s micro cone-top screw to attach them permanently. You’ll never lose your lock wheel again!

The Schaller owner did me a solid!

I made the mistake of buying a set of the nickel Shaller strap locks at a local Guitar Center store. They just looked interesting.

About a week later I took them out to take a better look, and found that unsurprisingly the staff had popped them open probably curious and played with them, but when they put them back in the clear case, they forgot to include a set screw that had fallen out.

For those who don't know, there is a very tiny set screw that, while they say isn't needed, keeps the round collar that secures the strap to the strap portion of the lock (hard to find good words for these things) from rotating loose. Even if it was loose, there's no way your strap would come off of these amazing latches.

I knew they were from Germany, and with no other recourse, I wrote to the company using the regular web form. I got a reply back from the owner of the company, asking that I send him some pictures because I guess my description was pretty bad of what the issue was.

After I sent the pictures, and they really responded fast considering the time zone difference, they confirmed that they should have had a set screw in them. Before anything else happened, I wrote to them thanking them profusely for at least confirming that a part was missing, and I asked if they just tell me the kind of metal rod, you know diameter and thread pitch, I should be able to have one made or make one in my shop. I was very clear in stating that the postage from Germany would make it prohibitively expensive, but if that was the only route I was perfectly fine paying the postage.

I didn't hear anything until a day or so ago, when I got this package in the mail, and what do you think was in it?

The owner had actually sent me some set screws, I guess he thinks I'm really clumsy because there's quite a few, and even two of their medium picks!

I must remind you here that I was adamant about paying for any postage, even though it was a small package. I did not demand or ask that they send me anything.

Guess who is a scholar customer for life?

Best Strap Locks Ever Made

Saw someone say the old ones were inadequate, and thats a laugh. I`m still using some I bought 25 years ago, and they work as great today as they ever did. I actually wondered why they changed them, I never had any problems with the old nut/washer design ( once in a while had to tighten a little)and Ive used some thick straps. Bought a new LP though and it deserved some nickel ones to match the trim vs. the old gold ones I have that Ive been using, along with a new padded strap. I will say the new nuts are a nice feature replacing the washer and nut. The old locks still fit onto the new buttons, glad to see that. But the coolest thing is the ramp cut on the lock peg. Just line the strap end up with the button on the guitar and give it a tiny pull and it just slides and locks right on. I had to wonder if there was enough peg left with the ramp to lock on as good as the old ones, but they are really secure. That is super cool. I never had a problem pulling the button to lock the old ones on, but the new slide/lock on design is a winner. Your only gonna have to buy 1 set of these for the life of your guitar, great product. You`ll have to punch the hole in your strap a little bigger to fit right. Hands down better than the push button styles. Heres a pic of the new ones, and a shot of the 25 yr old ones.

Basicaly one of the better options out there

Ok, Had these on my P-bass for 10 years and they were the older version, ever so slightly loose but held everytime.
These new versions are a little better. They seem to be more solid between the parts yet allows full freedom for guitar to swing at the meeting slot.
The Only Thing that pissed me off was that these new one's have the Set Screw to keep the nut from backing off the thred. That part works But The Allen Wrench was not in the Kit.
I had to dig out an Allen wrench small enough to fit the screw.
Did it, done and they are on now.
I think these are an improvement from the earlier versions. I recommend them.
