The Return of the CE

The new and improved PRS CE 24 brings you the snappy attack, woody tones, and American twang of a bolt-on maple neck at an appealing PRS price point. The CE 24's TCI-tuned 85/15 pickup set and updated switching system let you blaze through versatile tonal options onstage, which range from hard-rock humbucker overdrive to sensuous single-coil leads. The CE 24's fast maple neck glides through the hand for seamless transitions between upper and lower frets, and its rosewood fingerboard provides the kind of balanced articulation veteran players are sure to love.

Versatile 85/15 pickups for six humbucker/single-coil sounds

Modern-voiced with vintage characteristics, the CE 24's coil tapped humbuckers sound great for rock and pop, indie, metal, or punk. A push-pull pot lets you transition from scorching metal leads to sweet California twang on the fly. Paul Reed Smith retooled his original pickups to bring the sweet harmonics and chunky warmth of this classic design — but with modern output and articulation for today’s players and gear. Each set of pickups has been ear-tuned to perfection by Paul and his team, a process known as Tuned Capacitance and Inductance (TCI). The end result is a very musical pickup that’s true to its lineage, but updated for the modern player.

Bolt-on maple neck captures the excitement of the original

Fans of the original CE series from the 1980s to the 2000s will feel right at home playing the updated PRS CE 24's bolt-on maple neck. The CE 24 plays a lot like a Custom 24 but has a woodier attack and sharper bite you can really dig into. Whether you play blues leads or rock 'n' roll rhythms, the PRS CE 24 has the tonal diversity you're after.

Irresistible looks and playability

A balanced mahogany body, designer maple top, and velvety rosewood fingerboard give the CE 24 a warm and balanced sound with a look you won't want to keep your hands off. Sweetwater guitarists are big on the CE 24's thinner body and more comfortable top carve, which feel great against the wrist and forearm for strumming.

Revamped finish for classic feel

Never one to stand pat, PRS has retooled the finish process for their latest models. Taking cues from Private Stock finishes that entail high-gloss nitro over a cellulose CAB basecoat, the result is a finish that's thin, durable, and crystal clear — the perfect formula for vintage feel and superior resonance.

Excellent PRS CE 24!!!

I can't seem to stay away from PRS guitars and my new CE 24 fits right in! The finish looks fantastic, the quality is perfect, and it plays so well! I love the tones and 85/15 pickups are awesome!

Seriously good guitar

This guitar has been on my radar for a couple years. I had played a few SE models when they revamped the line in 2017 but didn't really like anything I played. A year later I was looking at PRS again, saw these and was pretty interested. Fast forward a couple more years. Got the go ahead from my wife for a new guitar so here we are, 10/2020. I ordered a demo model that had a small ding near the input jack. Looked new otherwise. Ordered a hard case too which is nice but not necessary.

What a beautiful guitar! Build feels extremely solid. Tuned it up on arrival and the trem was dead level factory spec. Don't turn the 6 trem screws without releasing the string tension or you risk ruining the knife edge of the trem. I'm glad I read about that before I got the guitar. I like to mess with stuff so I probably would have messed it up if I didn't know. Fortunately I didn't have to touch the screws. Action was perfect for me which is maybe medium? I definitely don't like it really low. Intonation seemed perfect too. The trem is really smooth and responsive. No tuning issues. Perfect action at the nut. Returned to pitch even with heavy use. The tuners are awesome. The pickups are AMAZING. I was prepared not to love the pickups because of demos I'd seen/heard but wow, they are killer, even the split tones! The satin neck is THE BEST I've ever played, by a lot. I'm not big on neck profiles and radii it just has to feel good, and this one is the best I've encountered. This is my first 24 fret and I'm amazed at how much more real estate I have compared to my Gretsch and Strat.

After playing it for a little while, I realized the intonation was indeed off. Every string was equally "off" though so it was good enough for good first impressions. Super easy to intonate, even by ear. Took less than 10 minutes. It's perfect now.

I was a little apprehensive about buying without playing but if they're all like this it's a non issue. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. This is my first PRS but will probably not be my last.

4.5 stars only because the intonation was off by about two full turns E to G and about 1 full turn on the B and high E. All strings needed to be longer.

Fantastic, affordable, American-made PRS!!!

After doing some serious research and playing a number of options, I settled on the CE-24 - best decision I could have made. The 85/15 humbuckers sound amazing, and the pickup splitting option is very cool too - you can get a nice range of tones with all of those options. The 24-fret neck is awesome, plays like butter and is just so smooth and easy to navigate, I don't think I can name a single thing about this guitar that I don't like.
One thing, unrelated to the actual guitar, that I don't love is the case. Like most PRS guitars, it comes with the deluxe gig bag...I just feel like a guitar of this caliber should come standard with a hardshell case. I am always nervous about transporting it in a soft gig bag.

The Best Value For An American Made PRS!!!

Seriously, it's a US made PRS with the violin carve!! It Crushes!!! The stuff from overseas is great, but the US/MD made stuff just kills!

I did have to tighten the neck a tad and lower the saddles, but it was setup exactly to PRS specs. I just like a lower action(not that it wasn't low at spec) than what they have as the standard. Very common as any review you find will indicate.

It's got spank, growl, and is flawless in fit and finish!!! The coil tap and three-way switch are just enough to not make you confused when playing live (513 is cool but can be confounding on stage sometimes)and it just is a beauty to look at.

Only, downside is that it doesn't come with a hard case. But hey, I'll take that for the extra value in quality you get in the guitar itself.

I have played many a PRS in my days in Nashville, and this is one I am happy to keep as it's just perfect for the price, and the fact that you don't have to worry about just that like some of the traditional core models these days.

If you can afford one, it's totally worth every penny!
