Highly Versatile Condenser Mic for Instruments and Vocals

An easy choice for producers, musicians, and content creators looking to add a reliable, high-quality condenser to their gear vault, the MXL 770 is a no-nonsense large-diaphragm condenser microphone offering superior recording capabilities for vocals and instruments alike. By utilizing a FET preamp and transformer-free balanced output, the 770 captures audio with a fantastic balance across all frequencies and a clear, open high end. Toggle on the 770's low-frequency roll-off switch, and you'll bask in a pure, untainted sound free from excessive noise and bass rumble. Its natural and versatile cardioid pickup pattern works exceptionally well when tracking vocalists, stringed instruments, and pianos, imbuing each take with a beautiful warmth and clarity that belie its affordable price tag. And with its built-in -10dB attenuation switch, you can be sure that the 770 is more than capable of holding its own against any sound source imaginable. Its usability goes far beyond music, making it an ideal mic choice for recording podcasts, voiceovers, and any other application where top-quality sound is crucial. Plus, each 770 comes in a rugged hardshell case with a custom foam interior along with a sturdy and stable shockmount — all you need is a mic stand and XLR cable, and you're ready to record like a pro!

Note: The MXL 770 microphone requires +48V phantom power (+/- 4 volts) from your interface or soundboard. Contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for more information.

MXL Microphones

A great buy

If you have a quiet room or can block air conditioning vents, this Mic performs excellent. I love how it picks up my acoustic guitar without overwhelming my vocals.

The Best Mic in its Price Range. Period.

This thing brings me so much joy to record with. Instruments, vocals, you name it, this thing has done it and done it well for me. I prefer this over the AT2020, over the Behringer C-1, and even slightly prefer it over other MXL mics. It's a STEAL of a microphone for its price. I cannot recommend it enough.

Better than the price would make you think

This mic was purchased as an emergency back up, and ended up using it all the time. I am a narrator and found the sound to be warm and consistent. For the price I doubt you could do better!

Great Piano Mic

This is a very transparent mic and very flat. I have found that a pair of MXL 770's used on a grand piano sounds amazing. I used them with a Focusrite 4i4. I found the sound was very clear and captured the piano uncolored and precise.
