Epic Sounding Best Friend In the Rain!

I really enjoyed this guitar. It was a trade for a Dulcimer. I had it for a couple of years. It's like a 2 x 4 hollowed out light weight sounds great. I'm looking for another used one. I like them beaten up. This guitar is easily lost because it looks like a 2 x 4 for those of us who have glasses and might lean it on a bush for a second and forget about it! Ode to my lost Martin Backpacker, you are loved.

Martin Backpacker - I dig it!

Got this for Christmas 2021, so I've been playing it for about 4 months now, and overall really enjoy it. It does take some getting used to - resting my right forearm on the top felt weird at first. Also, if you're playing while standing and let it go, the neck pivots downward pretty extremely, it's quite a bit heavier than the body.

What I really enjoy about it is the somewhat unusual, but great sound. It's a bit more jangly sounding than my full size Seagull, and although I've never played a cigar box style guitar, I have heard them, and it reminds me a bit of the cigar box sound - all very positive, I really like the sound.

And of course, small, compact, easy to travel with!

After about 6-7 years of owning one

Haven't changed the strings on this once. Extra light set, yet they still haven't broken after my on-and-off practicing and soon-following neglect. No fret buzz. Holds tune, I think? Pretty sturdy instrument, to say the least.
I wouldn't call this guitar very comfortable, but that is to be expected with a travel instrument. A strap is required; otherwise, your left hand will be holding up the neck by its lonesome self and it'll be even less comfy. The neck is relatively thick and rounded.
The sound is bright. It rings out quite nicely for such a small thing. Recently learned "Head Down" by Soundgarden and this thing nails the tone.
Look-wise, wood grain is very nice on all fronts. Fretboard is evenly colored.
Functionality, the D and G tuners take a bit of effort to turn. There's only 15 frets, of course, once again a trait of a travel instrument. With such a thick neck and a small body, there's plenty of neck dive, too.
This has gone up about $ since I got it, but it is worth the cost if you want a bright-sounding acoustic that you can easily lug around.

great travel guitar!

I purchased this right before a 3 week trip to Europe. This was perfect for what I needed - light weight, takes up little space, easy carry on for the flight. It's very quiet and has nice articulate tone. Holding it right to play comfortably takes some getting use to (I always have the strap on when playing), but hey it's just a travel guitar, not an expensive gigging guitar. The tone kind of reminds me of a parlor body, very bright and folky. I thought I might sell it after my trip, but I enjoyed it so much, I'll be hanging onto it for future travels.
