Marshall's Legendary DSL Is Back in Action

Tap into burly Marshall tone anywhere from your bedroom to the stage, with the Marshall DSL20HR tube amp head. With per-channel Gain and Volume controls, a dedicated Resonance control, reverb, and an effects loop, the DSL20HR is ready to rock. And with its adjustable power level, you can dial in cranked-amp tones that won't wake your neighbors — or even use the Softube speaker-emulated output for direct recording and monitoring. Marshall even refined the EQ section for extremely versatile tone shaping. From glassy cleans to bone-rattling crunch to blistering high gain, your wish is the Marshall DSL20HR's command.

A 20-watt tone beast

Marshall's DSL20HR is an all-tube, twin-channel workhorse capable of conjuring any classic Marshall sound — past or present. Three ECC83s in the preamp section (in concert with the amp's gain/master volume arrangement) give you stunning tone-shaping mojo, and with two EL34s in the engine room, you have enough volume to rule smaller bars and clubs. Marshall has gone on to fit this little beast with critical upgrades that give you even more control over your sound. A Resonance control (as opposed to the original's fixed deep switch) lets you dial in your preferred amount of low-end girth. You also get studio-grade digital reverb (instead of spring), high and low power settings, and a rear-panel series effects loop. Marshall has even included a 2-way footswitch for channel switching and the FX loop.

The DSL series — a revered tonal heritage

The Marshall DSL20HR hails from a revered lineage. Marshall introduced the JCM2000 Dual Super Lead (DSL) series amps in 1997. Right from the get-go, these all-tube monsters enjoyed enthusiastic approval by guitarists and the press alike, forming the backlines of top acts in all musical genres and bludgeoning audiences worldwide for a decade before being replaced by Marshall's JVM series (a musical powerhouse in its own right). Considered the go-to rock amp by many tone-savvy guitarists, there is considerable pent-up demand for Dual Super Leads. And thus, Marshall is proud to introduce the new-and-improved DSL series.

Softube speaker-emulated output

Marshall has teamed up with software mavens Softube to create exceptional tones in their CODE series of amplifiers, and they've joined forces again on the DSL20HR. Its line output features an accurate emulation of Marshall's iconic 1960 speaker cabinet, allowing you to plug directly into a recording chain with confidence. Guitarists at Sweetwater love flexible recording options, and the DSL20HR delivers.

Marshall Loud at 20 watts

Nothing quite like a Marshall period. These DSL20s are hard to come by. Been backordered for months because of heavy demand. Another "sweet" deal here on a perfect demo although no telling how many hours on the tubes. Its hissy in high gain crunch modes, a little noisy for studio work but has line outs in the back. A extra audio/headphone input in the front panel would be better. Love the fact you manipulate the wattage from 20 - Standby- 10 watts. Perfect for my home studio music room. This little amp-head is Marshall Loud. I'm running through a Berringer Slant Bugera 4 12 speaker cabinet. Its perfect, nice clean jazzy tones, and SRV texas blues crunch with high gain and volume, even extra crunch if you want it with digital reverb as a plus. A slight disappointment in the reverb, a old style spring reverb unit would be really cool. Made in Vietnam worth mentioning, excellent quality. Footswitch with the new LED lights, I'm using a Berringer Volume foot pedal as well. I'm a bluesman so this amp tethers on perfection for the blues artist. There is just something about a Marshall knowbody else can emulate.. 5stars jv, blues image

Loving this amplifier

I bought the bundle which included the DSL20HR head with the 2x12 slanted Marshall cab. This amp pairs amazing with my American Pro series Strat. Not only does this amp have more than enough power but the tones you can get out of this are superb. You can dial up clean tones that allow you to play great sounding blues or you can dial up tones that give you that amazing crunch sound that only the best Marshalls have to offer. The DSL20 head and 2x12 cab can do it all and do it very well. My Strat sounds amazing through it and i could not be happier. Also having a great service rep at Sweetwater Like Mike Singer makes you feel the purchase you made was the right choice because of his knowledge and great advice. Mike Singer wont try to sell you the most expensive item he wants to sell you what is best for your needs.

Marshall DSL has stepped there game up

After owning Marshall 80's solid state amps,Valvestate's and a Marshall JCM 900 head I have never heard that Marshall tone in head.My next move was to buy a used JMP Pre 80's head, but I couldn't see spending $1500 on a head that I would have to crank the amp and lose more of my hearing. My Marshall DSL 20 HR arrived yesterday OMG this is the SOUND in my head every time I plug in my Eastman Goldtop through my Marshall 4x12.I also plugged into a Vox cabinet with a blue alnico and was still impressed. My settings are resonance10,Presence 10,Bass 10,Middle 10,Treble 0-3,Volume 6-7Gain 3-7 on the Ultra channel.I was very leary because I tried my Rhythm guitar players DSL 40 and wasn't impressed. This amp is Loud!!I. I run a JHS Volume control to tame the Goliath.BUY THIS AMP FROM SWEETWATER.You will get It the next day thanks to Sweetwater using FEDEX for free shipping. What other company does that!!Everyone in my band orders from Sweetwater. They Rock.Plus who doesn't like Candy.

Marshall DSL20

Killer amp. Clean to mega crunch, and everything in between! Great price! Excellent service from my rep, Chris Neyman!

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
