A New Spin on the Classic Thump Formula

Mackie’s next generation of Thump loudspeakers is redesigned from the ground up to provide you with enhanced power and utility, all at a wallet-friendly price! The Thump212 loudspeaker’s ultra-efficient 1,400-watt class-D amplifier pushes plenty of air through the high-performance 12-inch woofer — a design that Sweetwater's live sound pros find is more than capable of handling most small- to medium-sized venues. Next, the 1-inch compression driver ensures that your sound is evenly dispersed, allowing the entire crowd to hear your music with crystal-clear quality. There’s even a built-in feedback eliminator to keep everything noise- and rumble-free! Plus, the Thump212 is loaded with flexible I/O power, boasting a versatile 2-channel design that can be set up for music ducking, allowing this loudspeaker to extend its utility outside of standard musical applications into the world of public address and education. Finally, like all Mackie products, the Thump212 is built tough to withstand the rigors of the road, and the unloading crew is sure to appreciate the lightweight 30-pound form factor.

Ultra-efficient class-D power

The Mackie Thump212’s ultra-efficient class-D amplification kicks out a powerful sound that defies this loudspeaker’s modest size! A 12-inch woofer dishes out plenty of low-end punch, and the 1-inch compression driver ensures that your sound is evenly dispersed across the entire venue. Lastly, Mackie’s built-in feedback eliminator all but eradicates unwanted speaker screech and rumble, maximizing your sonic potential and ensuring that your show runs smooth from start to finish.

Portable design for easy setup and transport

Weighing in at less than 30 pounds, the Thump212 is compact and lightweight, making it easy to transport. The Thump212's small and portable size will ensure that you won't need a road crew to mount it on a pole or pack it into your car. What’s more, the Thump212 is housed in a super-tough road-ready enclosure, so don't think that its light weight makes it fragile!

Mackie Thump212 1,400-watt Powered Loudspeaker Features:

  • 1,400W of class-D amplification is more than loud enough for most small- to medium-sized venues
  • 12-inch woofer and 1-inch compression driver deliver a full-range sound with plenty of low end
  • Flexible I/O, versatile 2-channel design, and a through output for a wide range of configurations
  • Music ducking mode is ideal for public address and education settings
  • Angled design is perfect for floor monitoring, but can also be mounted on a standard pole setup
  • Lightweight 29-pound design offers effortless portability
  • Signature Mackie durability to withstand the rigors of the road
  • Built-in feedback eliminator reduces unwanted screech and rumble

Mackie Thump Rocks!

This powered speaker is perfect for my music teaching studio. The 2 channels are exactly what I needed for my students to practice performing as they get ready to hit open mics. It will also come in handy for my songwriter group when we perform at small venues. My only regret is that I didn't get 2 of them!

Great extension speaker for my Bose L1 compact

I usually perform as a singer accompanying myself on guitar and Wazinator. For amplification, I use either my big Bose L1 with the B1 bass module, or for smaller venues my L1 compact. In either case, I use the Bose Tone match mixer. The big Bose is a beast that can handle any venue (indoors or out) and I love it, but for ease of transport I prefer the small Bose. For medium size venues however, I worry that the smaller Bose may not have enough cojones – that's why I was looking for an extension speaker to reinforce the little Bose if needed. The Mackie Thump212 fills the bill perfectly.

The Thump212 connects easily to my little Bose via a tip-ring-sleeve connector to the Line Out jack, and the combination of the Bose and Mackie gives me plenty of coverage for any medium size venue. I brought the Mackie to a winery gig and was not planning to use it until the owner let me know that an overflow room had been set up where it was difficult to hear the music. Easy fix – I just ran a cable and put the Mackie in the overflow room where it produced high quality sound that the patrons clearly appreciated. What's more, the "Thump" lived up to its name by providing plenty of bottom end for my Wazinator. The very next day I played at another show where the room was larger than I had been told. Same solution – I connected the Mackie to the Bose and between the two of them, I had nice high-quality sound coverage for the entire room.

Anyway, I love this little speaker – it's powerful and lightweight with good tone, and makes my Bose compact a lot more versatile. I'm going to put it in my car for all my gigs so that I'll have it if I need it. The bonus is that if my Bose craps out, I can plug a mic and guitar directly into the speaker as an emergency PA. Weighing less than 30 pounds with 1400 watts, it's hard to go wrong with this nice-sounding speaker.

I'll close with a shout out to my gear advisor Aaron Cieslikowski. I ordered the speaker and while it was in transit to me, I saw the price had dropped. I let Aaron know and he quickly and easily made sure that I got the sale price. This is typical of the excellent service that has made me a regular Sweetwater customer.

Awesome Speakers!

After using heavy keyboard amplifiers for the past 44 years I was over at a friend's house to practice with our quartet. He had me running through a single powered PA speaker. Wow! Full rich tone, plenty of power, super light weight. I decided right then to invest in a pair of powered PA speakers. This particular series is unbelievably light weight, very natural sounding ( not over bloated lows a shrill highs ) and more than enough power to have serious headroom for medium to large rooms. I run them stereo out from a Korg SV1. First gig, I was immediately blown away by the massive sound and clarity. Never turning back. For small gigs, one is plenty (however I love running in stereo). No buyer's remorse here. Just plenty of great tone, power, super light weight and you cannot beat the price point!!

Mackie Thump 212

I've been acquainted with the Thump series since high school. I needed a new pair for my own ministry and DJ work. I bought these with the understanding that they would be just as good as the previous generation. I will update when I first use them later this month. Also, a HUGE shout out to Paul Koehn. He is an amazing sales engineer and helped me pair these with rugged and durable stands.
