Outstanding Design, Details, and Sound in a Robust Dreadnought

Get the classic, full-bodied tone of a dreadnought with the Guild D-140. This robust acoustic guitar features a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides for full, rich acoustic tone. The rosewood fingerboard offers outstanding response and playability that's ideal for flatpicking and fingerpicking alike. Strum the D-140 with big, open first-position chords and hear the sustain and resonance that make the Westerly series acoustic guitars a favorite among guitarists here at Sweetwater.

A legendary series

The Westerly series of acoustic guitars taps into Guild's second chapter after relocating the company’s design and build headquarters from New Jersey to a Rhode Island furniture factory. This larger, improved space afforded a new direction and dedication to improving their already excellent craftsmanship. And the D-140 is part of that tradition as it reflects impeccable build details and fine appointments — all with a focus on improved tone and durability. A genuine rosewood bridge and real bone nut and saddle enhance tone and resonance on the D-140. In addition, scalloped spruce X-bracing provides additional resonance and sustain enhancement as well as ensuring long-term durability.

Guild D-140 Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • Acoustic built with detailed appointments and expert craftsmanship
  • Solid spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides
  • Rosewood fingerboard offers outstanding response and playability that's ideal for flatpicking and fingerpicking alike
  • Genuine rosewood bridge and real bone nut and saddle enhance tone and resonance
  • Scalloped spruce X-bracing provides additional resonance and sustain enhancement
  • Mother-of-pearl rosette soundhole will delight you and your audience with its fine aesthetic

Guild D-140

My most recent purchase from Sweetwater is my Guild D-140 and I couldn't be happier. The attention to detail on the guitar are top notch, it plays beautifully and sounds wonderful. My sales engineer Matthew Klopfenstein took good care of me as always. I'm pretty sure Sweetwater has a customer for life.

Best guitar under 1500

The hype is real. Yes you can get a solid wood guild for less than a thousand dollars. And it plays and sounds like 2-3 times the cost. Huge sound, loud volume, very balanced tone and very playable. My favorite guitar so far by far.

Impressed

I bought this as an upgrade from a Yamaha fg800, I was looking for all solid tone woods and this guild fit the bill at what I'd consider a very competitive price. I played similarly priced and more expensive martins and taylors and to my ears this guitar sounded much better than all of the ones I tried.

The action from the factory was very high but a quick setup had it playing perfectly.

Great sound, plays perfectly.

When I decided to get an acoustic, I went to a guitar store and played dozens. This one stood out. Great tone, great price. Unfortunately, I couldn't buy that one that day. But I kept it in mind and bought from Sweetwater. My first guitar had a defect, so I returned it for another. (Thanks for the great customer service, BTW). It's been great. Great tone, easy to play. I had SW do a plect fret dressing job on mine and couldn't be happier with the action, setup and playability. Did I mention great tone? I cannot recommend this enough. It has a big, loud sound that's harmonically pleasing. I would take this over most Martins, Yamahas, and Gibsons. It's distinctive and very good!

Way Way Impressed !!!

Guitar arrived today. First, thanks to Curt for always taking care of me. Now the guitar. WOW! Opened the gig bag to find the guitar securely in place and looking gorgeous. A couple of nice appointments when I discovered a cloth bag for the truss rod wrench and a couple of guild brand guitar picks. When I was researching guitars online and heard someone say, " This guitar
punches way above its class." They weren't kidding! It feels unbelievable in your hands and plays buttery smooth. With all the appointments on this guitar it should price way above its price point. Bone nut and saddle, solid wood back and sides, rosewood bridge and fret board and solid Sitka top.

I expected to be impressed with the guitar based on how much I researched them, but it far exceeded my expectations. You will not be disappointed with this guitar!!
