Sturdy But Not Perfect

This is a very robust board that keeps its shape and supports the pedals well.

My main gripe is that the angled slots for cabling don't really work that well. For one thing, the flat "pancake" plugs (low profile) will not fit through the slots, so when using those the wiring has to stay on the top. Overall, the slots tend not to line up with where the cables need to go. Over time almost all of my cabling has migrated to being on top of the board rather than being threaded underneath.

The carry bag seems durable and I have had no problems with the zipper or other fittings. A fully loaded board is somewhat heavy, and the carry bag tends to want to tip over in the direction of the top of the board rather than standing on its side. I think that is inevitable with all the pedal weight on the upper surface of the board, and I'm not sure what could be done to avoid that.

It is wonderful to be able to pick up and move all the pedals from practice room to gig without a bunch of plugging and unplugging. There is some hazard that knobs and switches near the edges of the board will be altered during a move; it is important to check these before playing. But it is well worth it to have a way to organize things.

The board would benefit from more of an opening for power cables to hte power supply mounted underneath. My Decibel 11 power supply uses a removable IEC cable but I have to leave it plugged in all the time because of the confined space.

Also -- and this probably happens with every brand of pedal board -- the adhesive Velcro strips tend to creep over time, such that the pedals slowly migrate from their original position to strange angles and spacings. It's not a huge problem. I suspect the only true way to avoid it would be to drill holes in the pedals and mount them with screws, which I have no intention of doing.

Overall, this pedal board does the job, and I'm glad to have it. In hindsight I might look at a comparable Pedaltrain model with horizontal rails rather than the angled slots. My real problem now is that I don't have enough room for all my pedals, and may need to get a bigger unit someday!

Perfect for my needs

I have a very modest set of pedals, focused around my HeadRush MX-5. I have a Peterson StroboStomp HD in front of everything, and two amazing Neunaber pedals (The Immerse reverb and Inspire chorus) which I've looped into the MX-5's stereo effects send and return. Because I want to be able to work on MX-5 rig setup on a table, then return the pedals to the floor, I wanted the whole setup to be a unit.
After comparing the offerings for a 24" pedalboard, I bought the Gator Large Pedalboard with Bag on the advice of my main man, Dan van Amerongen, and I added a TruTone 1Spot Pro power supply to minimize the mess of power cables to the pedals. (The MX-5 needs to use its own power supply.)
One challenge was that the built-in power supply mount brackets on the pedalboard are not deep enough for the 1Spot Pro; I had to reverse the bracket for the screws to reach, but that resulted in the ends of the bracket partially covering the power outlets.
I had a small piece of foam lying around, which when cut in two matched the width and length of the bracket perfectly. With that pad in place, the power outlets were not covered and I could complete my setup.
I could have purchased some longer screws, but this solution worked fine for me, and ends up with the bracked not directly pressing on the 1Spot... so I'm happy.
Another great Sweetwater experience, thanks Dan!

The Best...

I waited to write a review until later...6years later!! I purchased this item because my pedals number was growing. I bought the Voodoo Lab 2plus and mounted it underneath...awesome! I read some of the complaints others have had...it surprises me actually, yes it takes a bit of forethought....to plan your pedal routing options. But anything that is going to function for a long time should be carefully planned out, wouldn't you agree?? That being said...I loved this product so much..I bought one for our other guitarist..who loves it equally as well! Don't be swayed away from this rugged tool...We play out...not just at home...and this product holds up!! Get one.

GATOR-LG PEDAL BOARD

As a Bass Player, I started Messing around with effects pedals, Next thing I knew, the Wife was screaming "Get all these boxes off this desk", So got one of these Gator-Boards. WOW, Heavy aluminum, NO welds, LOVE the underneath mounting for your power supply, (Nice touch). Can't get it as tight as the picture shows because of those Large Bass patch cables, But still have 10 Pedals comfortably set up and EASILY usable!!! LOVE IT!!!

Velco Strips disappoint, but otherwise great.

The board itself is nice. Solid though not super heavy. The bag it comes with is very nice and rugged. My only complaint is the velcro strips. The ones that came with my board looked like they were cut in a hurry with some scissors from a large roll. Not only were they not long enough to cover the full length of the board, but they weren't even equal lengths with each other. And some of the ends weren't cut straight which means I have to cut off a little more to make it look nice. Everyone knows that musicians need as much real estate as possible on their pedal boards, so cutting them longer than needed (or measured perfectly) makes way more sense then cutting them too short. Now, I can go buy some velcro tape, but it's disappointing that I have to do that with this brand new Gator product. I wanted to give it 4 Stars just because I am annoyed, but that's not really fair.
