The Best of American and British Tone

With an eye to the past while still looking forward, Fender's Bassbreaker series puts classic tones at your fingertips, with a few twists to offer up a wider palette. The Bassbreaker 15 combo guitar amp gets its 15 watts of Class AB from an EL84 power section, and three distinct voicings offer up clean to high-gain tones, giving you a ton of sonic territory to explore. And the Bassbreaker 15 is a stellar choice for studio work. You can push it to saturation at ear-friendly volumes or use the XLR line-out with switchable speaker emulation and power amp mute to capture true tube tones straight out of the amp. The Bassbreaker 15 is a classic Fender with a British twist.

Crossing the pond

Many iconic British amps were based on early Fenders, so it's fitting that the Bassbreaker 15 harkens back to these classic designs. The Bassbreaker 15's EL84-based, Class AB power section is the secret to crossing the American/British sound barriers. When cranked, it exudes full-bodied Class AB style with harmonically rich EL84 tones. The 12" Celestion G12V-70 Speaker completes the British vibe on this sweet combo amp.

Wattage that wants to be cranked

Fifteen watts is often the perfect amount of power. At small live gigs, you can crank it up and not overpower the rest of the band. In the studio, it's low powered enough to get the power section really cooking, giving you amazing breakup and feel. Whenever your power tubes are working that hard, it adds a level of touch sensitivity to your amp's performance - and Sweetwater guitarists know that's often difficult to attain at a reasonable volume.

Onboard extras

Fender added a 3-way Gain Structure Switch that gives the Bassbreaker 15 three boutique voices. Each voice has more gain than the one before, in essence giving you three amplifiers in one. And the XLR output carries a selectable speaker simulator for direct recording or performing. You can also mute the power section to get recording tones in an apartment without waking the neighbors. And the digital reverb adds the ambience you need.

Oh yeah, it's loud

I got this 15 W amp as a backup to a red-knob Fender The Twin 100 W, which is super loud and heavy to lug up and down stairs for gigs. I'm very happy with the overall package. So far, I've played out with it once at a bar gig, and it was plenty loud. I basically played on the Low Structure setting all night (blues/rock/covers) and ran a few pedals in front and through the effects loop. It sounded great (from what I heard) miked and ran through a board. At home, it's a much more user friendly amp than my old amp, which can only be played on volume level 1 and below. There are lots of fun tones to play with at family-friendly volume levels. I know that it's a different amp, but so far I have not been able to find that loud, clear, and chiming ring that I can get on my The Twin. I can't speak to quality of build and durability, since I've only had it for about a month, but I played it cranked at a gig on my second day of ownership with no issues. Overall, I'd recommend this amp to anyone looking for a versatile American amp that goes easily from the bedroom to the bar room.

Fender Bassbreaker 15

I would say that out of all the guitar amps I have owned, this is the most versatile amp I have ever played. I find that each Structure setting is very usable and to be honest, I have hardly touched my pedals since owning this amp. The Bassbreaker 15 takes pedals very well. Depending on what pedal ('s) you are using, you will have to decide where to set the Structure (gain) knob to get the tones you are looking for. The effects loop is decent and works really well with my looper pedal. I couldn't be happier with that. The onboard reverb sounds fantastic. It's not your typical spring reverb that you would normally see in a lot of Fender amps, but I have no complaints. It sounds great and dreamy. I love that each control knob actually does something. I've played on amps where I hardly hear any changes in sound when adjusting the EQ, but not with this amp. Any tweaking is noticed and I really appreciate that. I dig the Bright switch. It really helps hummbucking pickups not sound as dark if that's what you are going for. I also really like having metal input jacks all around the amp for stability. I haven't used every feature of this amp such as the Direct Out, but have read good things about it.

Overall, I think this is fantastic amp for someone looking for versatility. From the ambient/melodic player to the hard rock/metal player, the Bassbreaker 15 can pretty much handle it all!

Fender Bassbreaker 15 combo

This amp is gig worthy, toneful and versatile, at only 40 pounds it does it all.
EL 84s brings it in to British land but still has Fencer DNA

Amazing Tone Machine!

Think Fender Bassman cleans and Marshall Bluesbreaker crunch and that's what I have found in my new go to amp for blues. I live in the middle gain position and use my controls on the guitar to get any sound I want. I also play it through an extension cab with a Greenback in it and that is a beautiful tone believe me...

Great workhorse!!!

I love this little amp! For shows the direct out works wonders for going into the pa for shows and the amp is a good volume to be cranked and not blow you away. The only thing I wish it had was switchable gain stages using a foot pedal for a boost for solos but the trusty tube screamer brings it up nice. Overall a fantastic amp and I would highly recommend!!
