10-voice Hybrid Tele with Onboard Rechargeable Battery

Guitarists of diverse styles and tastes are finding their voice in the new Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster. Now you no longer have to choose between acoustic and electric sounds for the gig; this hybrid takes you from folk and bluegrass flatpicking to greasy rock and soul with the flip of a switch. The secrets are twofold: a comfortable SIRS body, built to resonate like an acoustic instrument while giving you the fret access and playability of your favorite steel-string, and the pairing of two cutting-edge premium pickup systems with powerful DSP. In the bridge position, you’ll find a traditional offset Tele pickup packed with bluesy grit and Texas twang, and just behind that, the Fishman Matrix under-saddle piezo system for the soft-edged cluck of your favorite direct acoustic. Seven distinct acoustic profiles take you from solo fingerstyling to Nashville singer/songwriter without additional pedals. An onboard rechargeable battery powers it all. Pair these with a great-playing American Professional profile Tele neck, and the Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster from Sweetwater equips you for whatever session awaits.

Acoustic, electric, or both?

How would you like to layer your acoustic tones with heavily processed electric textures? Or volley between sweet acoustic rhythms and tasty Texas leads in the middle of a song? It’s all possible with the Acoustasonic Tele. A 5-way switching system makes accessing these diverse tones fast and painless. Additionally, each position features two distinct sound profiles (clean/crunch, parlor/dreadnought), which can be continuously blended via the rear mod knob. Whether you’re running into a PA or an amp, the Acoustasonic Tele provides great tones at the flip of a switch.

Magnetic bridge pickup

The Acoustasonic’s magnetic bridge pickup achieves authentic Tele-style tone with hum-free performance. This pickup nets you crisp cleans to crunchy overdrive with a tight low end, clearly defined highs, and punchy mids to power through any mix. Surprisingly, this pickup even sounds great without an amp, plugged directly into a PA.

Fishman Matrix under-saddle piezo

The Fishman Matrix is one of the world’s best-selling acoustic pickups. In the Acoustasonic Tele, it provides a syrupy-sweet direct tone and plenty of range to suit many styles of music.

The Acoustasonic body features an inset top with integrated forearm contour, along with Fender's patent-pending String Instrument Resonance System (SIRS) — designed to produce great tone whether unplugged or plugged in.
Players can blend their tone from a curated collection of 10 acoustic and electric profiles aboard the Acoustasonic Tele. The “A” voice has the mod knob rotated fully counterclockwise; the “B” voice is fully clockwise.

Blend your tone to taste

Strumming, fingerpicking, and lead work all require different sounds. The Acoustasonic Tele gives you access to 10 distinct acoustic and electric voices via a traditional 5-way selector and an A/B mod control for fine-tuning selections. These voices accommodate diverse genres and playing styles with ease. In addition to electric tones, onboard acoustic options span dreadnought, parlor/concert, and articulate auditorium body styles that mirror premium tonewoods, including Sitka spruce, Brazilian rosewood, mahogany, and maple. Whether you’re seeking a boisterous dreadnought or a slim short-scale that gels in a mix, it's all at your fingertips — no pedals required! Plus, if the Acoustasonic Tele wasn’t unique enough already, players can blend electric and acoustic tones in positions 1 and 2 for acoustic texture with a touch of driving electric sustain or electric tone with a hint of percussive acoustic attack.

Familiar Tele design

Fender has done a great job of retaining the style and playability of the beloved Tele design for an instrument as advanced as the Acoustasonic Telecaster. From the familiar single-cut body to its great-playing, ebony-capped "Deep C" profile neck, everything about this guitar will make you feel right at home whether onstage or in the studio.

SIRS mahogany body

Unique to the Acoustasonic Tele is its mini-soundhole mahogany body with SIRS resonance enhancement system. Paired with its transverse-braced Lutz spruce top, the Acoustasonic resonates like no Tele you’ve played before, with punchy bass and a sparkly top end that comes across loud and clear through the onboard Fishman electronics.

Onboard rechargeable battery

Swapping out 9-volts is so yesterday. The Acoustasonic Telecaster comes loaded with a 20-hour integrated battery, rechargeable over USB. Even better, this battery allows you to charge and play at the same time — so if you’ve got a portable battery backup, the Acoustasonic can give you days of uninterrupted play time.

The Acoustasonic Tele's USB-rechargeable battery means there are no 9Vs to swap in and out.

Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster Hybrid Guitar Features:

  • Hybrid design affords 10 timeless acoustic and electric voicings
  • Piezo and magnetic pickups yield acoustic strums to Texas leads
  • Select or layer tones via 5-way Tele blade and continuous mod knob
  • Resonant SIRS body — resonates like an acoustic
  • Lutz spruce top — adds spank and sparkle
  • Ebony-capped "Deep C" mahogany neck rivals that of your favorite electric

Finally! I got THE Guitar I've been looking for.

I play rhythm in a Country/Southern Rock band and Worship Team in church. I finally have THE guitar I've been looking for. It does it all. It might not be the vest Telecaster, or the best Martin D-18, or the best Taylor 714, but it is all those things and amped up as good as those guitars. And I can practice or go over vocals with my wife/lead singer and not have to plug in. Huge convenience.

The band is 60/40 acoustic/Tele with pedals for the set list we do. No problem and I run through a Blues Deluxe or Blues Jr. Church is 100% acoustic. No problem and I run through a Fender Acoustisonic 40 with no pedals. And I've got the playability of a telecaster with tall narrow frets. No more 2 hour bar chord hand cramps from 12's on a Taylor...

So rockin the band, no problem.
Worship in Church, no problem.
Practice at home, no problem.

It checks off all the boxes.

One guitar to rule them all.

I have others, but this is THE ONE.

One note: the finish is so Matte that I want to oil it, but I know that would be a bad idea... It is gorgeous though. I love the buttery smoothness of the natural top, just awesome all around and worth every penny. Just buy it if you need a hybrid, this is it.

Also, I was using a Yamaha Silent for some of the acoustic stuff to avoid feedback. That's a toy in comparison to this.

Quality, playability, versatility, creativity and pure pleasurable

I've been playing the guitar since 1967 when I was in a band called Psychogenic Formulations. I've been through and I own many guitars. This by far is the most fun versatile guitar I've ever owned.
My wife plays the Ukulele and we perform at brew pubs, farmer markets, nursing homes, charity and private events. I received my Fender Acoustasonic Strat, Natural in early June. We haven't had a paying gig since March due to COVID19. However, we have done a ZOOM high school reunion gig and 2 front porch gigs for our neighbors and a third this Saturday. It's ironic that this guitar is made in Corona, California. We play a variety of songs; folk, country, rock, classics, blues, and oldies to contemporary. We customize our play list based on the gig/audience. I've been going through our 109 song list and figuring out the setting for each song on my Acoustasonic Strat. What a blast! I will no longer have to bring my Martin acoustic and my Les Paul Standard to every gig. The Fender Acoustasonic Strat is a quality instrument with wonderful playability, versatility, creativity and such a pleasurable instrument to play.
I want to thank Ashton Vaudt who has been my Sweetwater Sales Engineer for many years. He's professional, knowledgeable, supportive and friendly. The photo is the mini-Martin that I bought from Sweetwater.
Music background: I play the bass, electric and acoustic guitars. I perform with my wife. She plays the ukulele with beautiful vocals. We call our duet "Two Bee's". The first initial in our names. Betty & Brian

Koa Telecaster Acoustasonic

I have held off writing this review for a couple of weeks and after a few live performances. First, Sweetwater treated me (and my wife who secretly purchased this for me) very well. Josh Sackett is the Sweetwater Sales Engineer I deal with and he is always outstanding. The guitar was perfect when I opened the case. Now for the guitar. I was never able to actually try one before purchasing so I only had video reviews to go by and the advice of Josh Sackett. I wanted a guitar that gave me primarily acoustic tones but played like an electric. This guitar design from Fender seemed to fit the desire. I am a fan of Telecasters anyway. It is striking in person and gets many compliments. Ultimately, it is about how the guitar sounds and feels. It sounds amazing plugged in. I explore the various tones relentlessly. I practice unplugged quite often and I was actually surprised that it sounds rather pleasant without being plugged into an amp. Certainly serviceable to practice or learn a new song. I play in a worship band and it can handle any type of song they ask of me. It is very light and comfortable. The neck is great - not as thick as my Kotzen model tele but very comfortable. It was very expensive (for me) being the exotic koa model. However, it provides so much in return with the variety of tones.

Nice

This is a very nice guitar, light, easy to tune and sounds brilliant whether plugged in or not. It has a great acoustic resonance if you want to practice quietly.

Fender Tele Acoustasonic

Plays really well, including sustain. Have not "ghigged" with it yet, but hopefully before too long. Considering its form-factor, it sounds surprisingly good unplugged. It sounds phenominal via amplification.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
