Very good guitar

I just got my Studio LT guitar. Out of the box it needs tuning and minor adjustment on action and a change of strings. No big deal, at this price point. Overall a very good deal. Sounds good, tone is good, playablty good. I keep hearing it is a good starter guitar, that's true but it is also a good guitar to take to the gig and not worry about it getting ripped off or damaged. This is a great player guitar. Other than a good pro setup, You are owning a very nice guitar all around I may buy another one, maybe next level up, price point. I own Gibson's, Martins, Fender USA and a few no names, and I am very impressed by this Epiphone, BUY ONE!

great sound for the price

I was looking for a Les Paul that looked and sounded like a Les Paul without the insane cost of a Gibson. This hits that mark perfectly. It sounds good (to me, with my pedals & amp, which is subjective), arrived safely and well-setup (thank you Sweetwater!) and is quite comfortable to play. Even though it isn't a true Gibson LP, it does have hints of that familiar growl and scratches the LP itch that my other guitars can't quite reach. For the value, it's a no-brainer for a beginner guitar, practice guitar, project guitar, or someone who just wants to add a LP to their collection with the least financial commitment and the least compromise.

Two reasons I knocked off one star. 1. The slight rattle/vibration I can hear from inside the body when I hit a couple open strings. It's very faint, and you can't hear it through the amp when plugged in. I initially thought it was fret buzz, but the setup is actually really good (for me) right out of the box. Rather, there is something vibrating inside somewhere amongst the electronics. As soon as I swap out this first set of strings I'm going to open it up and try to address that. Maybe add some copper shielding "while I'm down there" (not that i think it truly needs it). 2. Aesthetically, I have no idea why they would put such a BROWN colored neck on this guitar. It almost looks like it doesn't belong. Blonde or ebony would have looked much better. I had it in my mind that I would eventually stain this fretboard ebony, but the fretboard is a good quarter-inch thick and the sides are lacquered. So my dilemma is to stain it and leave the sides alone (which may show some bleed-through), sand the sides and attempt to stain those dark as well (what to do about those side dots?), or leave it alone because it sounds good and i don't want to ruin it. Anyway, I can see myself messing with this guitar a lot over the next year purely for fun, not out of necessity (maybe ebonizing the neck and swapping out all the chrome hardware for black).

Those are my own quirks though. If you relate to one of the aforementioned categories of player, dig the neck color, and your Studio LT arrives without any ghostly-faint rattles, then this is easily a 5-star guitar for you. Rock on.

Strataholics won't be disappointed.

This guitar needs no improvements. Best value at this price. It's look sold me. It's feel out of the box need no tweaking.

A Lot better than my Special II

I've had a Special II for over 15 years and besides new strings the only upgrade done to it is some better pickups and they were less than $ a few years ago. This guitar plays as good and has much better tuners and pickups. Two surprising things are how much more sustain it has and it is lighter. My Les Paul Special cost $ when I got it, the typical price for entry level guitars then. Now they are twice as much and this Studio LT is only $ more and besides better tuners and pickups, has controls for each pickup for fine tuning the sound. It is just amazing what the extra money buys. The carved ebony body is beautiful too, although I really like the cherry finish on my Special.

Good guitar for the price.

This was a present for my grandson. He did a lot of research on guitars in the price range I gave him. This is the one he wanted, so I started looking at places to order from. I could not believe the amount of people that commented on how great the ordering process and customer service with Sweetwater was. I used to buy my mt stuff at a place I thought was my "Friend", but after getting a call from Michael Grebe from Sweetwater going over my order and shipping progress, this was something no other company has ever done and I'm glad I chose Sweetwater. The guitar arrived undamaged, and my grandson loves it! He got the ebony version and there is not a blemish on it. It sounds great, had no sharp fret ends, the setup was very close to perfect, and the neck is straight. He is putting new strings on it and is conditioning the fretboard. For the price, I think this was the best decision, and there is nothing like that smile and excitement a grandchild shows when getting such a great gift. Thanks Mike....thanks Sweetwater, you have a customer for life. I am not a spokesperson for Epiphone or Sweetwater, I'm just a happy customer.
