A Strat That Goes to 11 - and It's Only at Sweetwater!

Over the long and iconic history of Fender Custom Shop, thousands of Stratocaster variations have been produced. None are like this one. The GT11 starts with a lightweight, roasted alder body and a roasted AAA flame maple neck for a very open and balanced tone. With the all-new 11"-radius fingerboard, the GT11 provides a playing surface that inspires and delivers more speed and precision. Add in three custom-wound Sweet ’64 pickups with the Half Blender switching system and Fat ’50s wiring, and you’ve got a premium guitar for any style of music. Topping off the feature-laden GT11 is an updated tremolo with improved string spacing and vintage staggered pole tuning machines. The Heavy Relic body and neck combined with Closet Classic hardware give the new GT11 Stratocaster a vintage, worn-in look and feel with precision performance.

You’ve never felt a Strat neck like this one

Some necks feel good, while others feel great. The GT11 Stratocaster goes way beyond great — you’ll feel an immediate personal connection to this guitar. The 11"-radius AAA rosewood fingerboard makes everything effortless. Play a chord by the nut or play a few licks at the 14th fret; it all feels the same — smooth and incredible. And the AAA roasted flame maple neck features a ’60s-style Oval “C” shape that fills your hand perfectly, no matter where you’re playing. When we first got our hands on the GT11 here at Sweetwater, we were amazed at what a difference the 11" radius made — especially for players who were used to a radius wider than the traditional Strat.

The Holy Grail of Strat tones is right here

Trying to create the ultimate Strat pickup is no easy task, but Fender Custom Shop’s Mike Lewis pulled it off nicely with his Sweet ’64s. Voiced especially for the GT11, these hand-wound pickups deliver a full-range sound with fat, round lows, sparkling highs, balanced mids, and zero ice-pick frequencies. The pickups are under-wound, giving you unparalleled note separation and clarity. When we ran the GT11 Strat through its paces, we plugged into everything from vintage amps to high-end boutique models to uber-high-gain monsters, and the Sweet ’64s performed admirably through each. The search for the Holy Grail of Strat tones ends here.

All the most player-requested features

The GT11 Stratocaster gives you all the most player-requested features. You get a modern 5-way position blade switch, along with one volume and two tone controls. The volume boasts Fender’s Fat ’50s hookup wiring with treble bleed to avoid tone loss with volume changes. And you also get a Half Blender tone control that blends the neck pickup into positions 1 and 2, along with a master tone control. And the middle pickup is reverse-wound/reverse-polarity, for humbucking operation in switch positions 2 and 4.

Relic’d finish and hardware are packed with vintage appeal

The GT11 Stratocaster is a classic Strat all the way through. Its roasted alder body sports a relic’d nitro finish, for the look of a vintage guitar that’s been played lovingly for decades. Many guitar collectors like the Heavy Relic look, but even more players get these guitars because they feel so comfortable and broken-in. While the Heavy Relic look naturally calls for highly distressed hardware, many players prefer the smoother feel of Fender’s Closet Classic hardware for a slightly aged, vintage look. The GT11 Strat looks and feels like a well-worn instrument that will be comfortable and familiar right off the bat.

Seconds Please!

This is my second Custom Shop GT11 Stratocaster - great CS Strat's! This heavy relic is very cool. It fell over forward off a guitar stand at a show and I had no worries at all about scratches or dings - ha,ha! Greg Savino at Sweetwater was fantastic in working with me to get this one. Love the specs: 22 frets, 11" radius, blender pot, rubbed neck...so comfortable. The pickups sound a little under-wound so have beautiful Strat' chime and clarity, but dirty up very nicely. The fret markers are a little difficult to see in low stage light however. Even at this price, so worth it!

Wow, do I have a story

. Over the next month, I would play the GT11 alongside my other guitars and it's character began to emerge. Pickups sound like the best start pickups I've ever heard. The neck is perfect (nog too small not too big). The roasted body & neck are light but very solid. The flame neck is gorgeous and the 11 radius is genius. The thing even smells good. When I now pick it up, I am blown away with how amazing it plays & sounds. I am seriously thinking of selling my other strats because they just do't measure up. Sweetwater did a GREAT job specing this guitar. I miss my 594 less and less after playing this GT11 Strat. Can't recommend it enough.

Vintage Looks + Modern Appointments = The Perfect Strat

Where do I start....

This guitar is an incredibly designed axe Thanks to Sweetwater teaming up with the Fender Custom Shop. I grew up playing strats and my prized Strat was a 1984 American Standard which was my favorite. Like many musicians, I let it go in a stupid way only to be searching for "The Perfect Strat" since. I've owned many strats and s-type guitars and while all of them were good in their own right, none of them had "it". You know what I mean...the mojo...the special sauce. Well, I'm here to tell you that this guitar has "it". I LOVE the look of a good ol' beat up strat but could never get around to loving one because they all had specs that weren't on the modern side. They were all 21 frets, vintage radius, stuff like that. As far as the modern strats go, they have great features but they don"t have the mojo or worn in feel. This guitar nailed it. It's about as perfect as you can get. They only thing it's missing is Locking Tuners...and Stainless Steel Frets. (I'm looking at you Fender) But I'm lazy, and that"s an easy upgrade. The pickups are amazing. Hendrix ? Nails it. SRV ? Nails it. Because of the unique wiring, you can even get Tele sounds ! No bull ! Interestingly, these pickups are really quiet and with my setup, don"t produce any hum. If it does, it"s very very minimal. The neck is one of my favorite parts of this guitar. It"s like no other Strat I"ve felt. Smooth..no ugly gloss. Flame Roasted Neck. Just wonderful in the hands. The fretboard is flat but not too flat. Just perfect. Do yourself a favor and buy one of these. Yes, it"s on the pricey side, but it"s wayyy wayyyy wayyyyy better than any production Strat out there. They"re not kidding when they say you"ve never played a strat like this. In many ways, it"s hard to believe it"s a strat. You gotta play it to believe it.

I"d like to give a big shout out to my dudes David Hess and Adam Lill for always taking care of me and making this guitar happen. Call them and tell them Erik sent you.

GT11 Custom Shop Strat

This guitar exceeded my expectations. Sweetwater put together a Strat with everything thing on my wish list. Playability is awesome. Acoustically this Strat is far different compared to my other Strats, more clarity, upper mid and louder. Plugged in the pick ups give a warmth that I have heard from vintage 60's Strats. Really digging the roasted neck. So easy to move around the fretboard, feels great.
This guitar has quickly become my fav.

Killer axe

I have torn through 25+ guitars in search of this sound, this feel, and this look. The neck joint is clearly custom fit and that shows in the massive sustain of this guitar. The pickups were a gamble as they are not available anywhere else that I can find. They are sweet but full....they take gain very well. The neck is full enough in the hand without getting in the way. I have felt faster roasted necks, but it feels muvh more controlled.

Top notch, should be a realy good seller for Sweetwater.
